When I was young and living with my parents, I had some shelves just above my desk and I carefully organized all my stuff on them – my books, my pictures, my audio CDs, and so on. Berokyo takes that experience and ports it to my PC. The application provides a highly customizable bookshelf onto which you can put anything you want, like applications you frequently access or images you want to easily access, for example.

The first thing the Berokyo setup wizard will ask you is to pick one of three supported languages: English, German, Spanish. After that it will guide you through what is a standard installation process. The simple truth of the matter is that you will be done in little time and without putting in a lot of effort.

When you launch Berokyo for the first time, you will be invited to create your first cabinet. You will get to choose one of many cabinet styles, add category/subcategory, add any item you want to the cabinet, access some options to personalize the cabinet, choose if you want to dock the cabinet to the edge of the screen, and access some Help & Support features.

You can place the following on the Berokyo bookshelf: Control Panel applets, desktop items, Quick Launch icons, My Computer items, Administrative Tools, Start menu programs, Favorites, Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, Contacts, shortcut to a folder, shortcut to a particular file. All the items will be presented as thumbnails on the bookshelf. Select an item and you will be able to resize it using the slider from the bottom right hand corner. Double click an item to launch it with the application associated with that file extension. Double click the Berokyo icon in the system tray and all your cabinets will be displayed.

Please note that Berokyo is not free, it is only free to try.

Keep all your stuff nicely organized on bookshelves, in Berokyo cabinets. I have to say I like everything about this application.

Pros

Berokyo is available for Windows, Mac, and iOS. There are many cabinet styles to choose from; there are several customization options you can play with. Add anything you want to the cabinets you create. Quick search function, incremental find feature.

Cons

Free to use for a 30-day trial.
